Jules Belin is a small family operation in the Nuits-St-Georges region of Burgundy, in the village of Premeaux-Prissey. In the 20th century, the family had numerous workers in the vineyards and they were called to lunch break every day with a bell that could be heard in the whole vineyard; hence the name "a la Cloche." |
Marc de Bourgogne |
The Marc is made from 100% Chardonnay grapes. It is aged 7 years in oak, far longer than the 2 year minimum required by law. They need about 1000kg of grapes to make 50 liters of pure alcohol at 93% volume, which is then reduced with de-mineralized water down to 40%. 833 cases made. |
