Domaine de la Barbinière was taken over by Philippe Orion in 1978, after his father started the domaine with only 3 hectares. The property now spreads over 31 hectares and is run since 2006 by Philippe's sons, Alban and Vincent. It is located on the western edge of the Loire Valley and benefits from the cooling influence of the Atlantic ocean. Farming practices: organic for the reds since 2016. The whites and rosés will be fully organic in 2017. |

"Les Silex" - AOC Fiefs Vendéens |
60% Chenin Blanc, 40% Chardonnay. The 23 year old vines are manually harvested. Both varieties ferment separately with indigenous yeasts, are aged in stainless steel tanks then blended before bottling. A fresh, aromatic white. The name Silex refers to flinty soils in the vineyard, reminiscent of Pouilly-Fumé further east along the Loire river. 13% Alcohol. |
