Floodgate was started by Woody Hambrecht of Alysian with the aim to produce wines that are non-pretentious, affordable, accessible and crowd pleasing. They pair easily with food but can also be enjoyed on their own. Woody is passionate about the relationship wine has with food and he is very excited to offer great wines at a good value. The Hambrecht family has been working in the northern California wine country for decades, so Woody’s access to the best fruit sources is incredible. |

Pinot Noir Rosé |
100% Pinot Noir. 2016 marks Floodgate Wine Co's second release of rose of Pinot Noir. The grapes for this vintage were sourced from the Sonoma Coast AVA and direct pressed into this lively, well balanced rose. After cold fermentation in stainless steel tanks, malolactic fermentation was stopped in order to accentuate a mouthwatering brightness. This wine has a beautiful pale pink color with melon, white peach and strawberry cream notes. Lingering acidity makes this a great food pairing wine while the subtle fruit profile also lends to enjoying as a stand alone wine. 12.8% alcohol. |
Pinot Noir – Russian River |
2013 is the inaugural vintage. This classic Russian River Pinot has notes of black cherry and cola with luscious earthy tones. On the nose is baking spice, rose petals and toasted vanilla. This wine has wonderful structure and a lingering finish. It is well balanced and a true crowd pleaser. All grapes were sourced from vineyards in the Middle Reach of the Russian River Valley - clones: 667, 777, 115, Pommard and Martini 13. The grapes were harvested at night and hand-sorted in the vineyard. This wine was fermented with a combination of indigenous and cultured yeasts in 2.5 and 4 ton stainless steel open tops and aged in 30% new French oak for 14 months. 14.2% alcohol. 1400 cases made. The 2013 was made from fruit grown in organically farmed vineyards. |
